Steve_Savitzky / Concerts

[..] [files]

If you're seeing this on the website, don't expect too much. This file is basically just a placeholder until I cook up a proper index.html file for the directory. On the other hand, if you're browsing the directory tree, you already know that I put a HEADER.html file into every directory to aid in navigation.

This (/mm/record/Concerts/) is the parent directory for concert recordings -- it's used for splitting, cleanup, transcoding, and in general all the operations that preceed disk burning or web publication. In general it will not be used for initial recording, since that's done in the field.

Each subdirectory contains the recordings of a specific concert; the name is usually "Venue-date" -- the date is just a year in most cases, especially when the venue is a convention. A qualifier, if necessary, comes after the date.

I'm still uncertain how to handle version control. Because of my inclination to start editing by making a complete copy of the original, it seems likely that git would be a good choice. On the other hand, simply checking in the original would have the same effect, as it could always be retrieved in a branch. In that case, svn would work, though git might still be more compact.

Directories

Note that not all of these directories will be uploaded to the website at all, and only HTML and compressed (ogg and mp3) sound files will be uploaded. WAV files and Audacity projects will not be uploaded; ask if you want 'em.

Consonance-2004/
currently contains only a contents listing for Harold Groot's DVD.
Consonance-2007/
Recorded at 24 bits using a Behringer C2 stereo pair on a mic stand in front of the stage but a bit too low, and an Edirol UA25 interface. Pretty good.
Baycon-2006/
Extracted from Harold Groot's DVD. Both soundboard and handheld versions were recorded. The soundboard version is pretty good, but it's a mono mix; both are 48KHz.
Baycon-2008/
Recorded from a bad location back in the audience using a Zoom H2.
Loscon-2006/
Recorded at 24 bits using a Behringer C2 stereo pair and an Edirol UA25 interface, using my rolly as a makeshift mic stand. Pretty good, considering.
Silicon-2004/
Recorded using a Radio Shack stereo mic and a Griffin iMic. Marginal.
Worldcon-2006/
Recorded using a Griffin stereo lapel mic and an iMic on a MacBook Pro laptop (borrowed from work).
